CHART Welcomes Visiting Scholars from the University of Arizona

From September 28-30, 2023, CHART welcomed Dr. Kathleen Insel, Ph.D., RN, and Dr. Jeannie Lee, PharmD, BCPS, BCGP, FASHP, Visiting Scholars from the University of Arizona for research discussions related to the Medication Education, Decision Support, Reminding and Monitoring (MEDSReMĀ©) system development. Their visit was hosted by CHART Director, Dr. Wendy Rogers, and Dr. Raksha Mudar, CHART Steering Committee Member and they introduced Drs. Insel and Lee to the University of Illinois community including a meeting and tour at the McKechnie Family LIFE Home and a dinner with CHART faculty members.

Drs. Insel and Lee presented at the Kinesiology and Community Health Colloquium. Dr. Insel discussed the foundation of intervention studies using theoretical frameworks and empirical findings with a background on prospective memory, application to self-management of health, and the necessity to leverage technology to improve lives for older adults. Dr. Lee presented on clinical perspectives of medication adherence including pharmacology of aging and relevant application to hypertension medications, medication safety for older adults, and how these principles informed the MEDSReMĀ© system.
