CHART Co-Sponsors Successful Industry Roadmap Event
Urbana, IL

On May 14th, 2019, the Industry Roadmap for the Future of Aging, Health, and Technology event was held at the Spurlock Museum on the University of Illinois Campus, and brought together representatives from industry units, civic units, and academic units to discuss barriers that older adults currently face and collectively path a roadmap to navigate these issues.   During the event, participants were exposed to different scenarios and use-cases of different technologies and challenged to identify any potential issues and plan for how to overcome these.

From this event emerged the Proactive Aging through Technology for Health (PATH) Industry Consortium.  This consortium is comprised of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Johns Hopkins University, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Morgan State University.  The intent for this consortium is to synergize and combine the work that is being done both in the industry and academic fields as well as create a network for information and resource sharing.

This event captured the attention of News Gazette reporter Noelle McGee who wrote an article on both the event as well as benefits of virtual reality among the aging population.  A link to the article can be found here.
