CHART Researcher Dr. Shannon Mejía Published in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Supplement of The Gerontologist

Dr. Shannon Mejía, Assistant Professor in the College of Applied Health Sciences and CHART researcher has had a portion of her research published in the recently released Centers for Disease Control and Prevention June supplement to The Gerontologist journal.  Mejía’s study was about the impact of age discrimination on older adults’ future cancer prevention health behaviors (smoking, drinking, and moderate physical activity). Age discrimination was related to fewer health behaviors due to its negative impact on older adults’ beliefs about their own aging.

A short video has been made about this research. Find it here.
